So you want to know what the next big thing is. If you live in south Texas chances are you probably already know it. Yep, the oil and gas industry is about to explode. Rumors of hundreds of wells being drilled in Live Oak and McMullen County appear to be true based upon my sources in the oil and gas business. So what does that mean? Well you may just get left at the station again. Why are you waiting? Trying to time the market? Hey, bad move...my best advice is to sit down with an agent who knows the market. Tell him what you want and let them do the hard work. They usually know what's going on. Save yourself some time and hassle.

It's a long-held tradition that Longhorns and Aggies just don't see eye to eye. It's about two great schools who look at things differently. One's not better than the other just different.
We remind ourselves of this conundrum when we visit College Station to see our daughter, Rachel. Nana had to go check things out for herself, and the verdict is that she loves Aggies too. That's saying alot for someone who grew up as a Red Raider.
The world's full of people with different views. I guess that's what makes the world go 'round. Have a happy and safe holiday season.
Adios,
Richard
The year is almost over and I've been playing with new interactive maps on the internet which provide a lot of useful information in an interesting format. There are about seven maps available on this one map. These tools are just a few of the new technologies available. I'm watching and reading what others are doing and will soon be making the move too in 2010. You'll soon see more maps on my website with my listings and other neat gadgets. Stay tuned for the newest & neatest stuff.
Robin & I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a restful and joyous holiday season.
Feliz Navidad!

It's that time of year...no, not football...more on that later. No it's getting cold in south Texas. That means it's almost Christmas. It's one of my favorite times because you are near family, and it's a time to celebrate the many ways you have been blessed.
This year the Dockery's have all experienced lots of changes. The most notable is our daughter, Rachel, graduating high school and going to Texas A&M. That was tough at first for "the Longhorns", but in the end, it was the perfect place for Rachel. We're happy to cheer the Aggies in Aggieland...so long as they are not playing the Longhorns. The Horns survived an offensive nail-biter, hopefully on their way to a National Championship!
Thank you to all our customers, family & friends during the year. We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2010!
The Dockery's
1. As an agent what kind of properties are your focus?
Rural Recreational Properties. There's not much I haven't handled over the years, but my favorite type of property is recreational ranches. Living in a small town, you help people buy and sell all types of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. I enjoy working with people and helping them in the buy/sell process. It can be very complex.
2. Where is your territory?
I cover the entire state of Texas, but primarily south Texas. I sell and appraise a lot of rural - ranch and farm properties - in the South Texas area between San Antonio and Corpus Christi, but I go just about anywhere.
3. What methods do you use to sell ranch and farm properties in South Texas?
It starts with dynamic listings - I help sellers get the most from their listing. I use my website and leverage it with other websites specializing in rural real properties. There are a lot of wannabes, but not a lot of people have the experience I bring to the table.
4. What interests you most about these kinds of properties?
Nature - I enjoy getting out & seeing ranches and the native wildlife.
5. Any additional special experience you bring to this kind of real estate?
I've led a number of local organizations, and am a member of just about everything that's relevant. But I think, besides that, there's no substitute for travel. I've found that I really enjoy traveling not only through the state, but also internationally. I like going anywhere but here. Out THERE, Whereever that may be. It's one thing to open an office and put up a sign, but it's another to be able to blindfold someone and ask them to tell you where they are just by the smell, the wildlife and nature sounds, and the terrain. You can't duplicate that experience on a business card.
