As I write this it's the first week of 2009 and things have settled into the old routine in a brand new year. It's been slow on the farm & ranch sales and the residential market. The appraisal business is VERY brisk. I'm guessing because people really do care what things are worth when times get tough. Right now buyers are taking a wait-and-see attitude regarding the market. They're checking things out, but not too agressively. Hopefully our new president will get things straightened out and the economy will improve. I don't see that soon, but I am hopeful the market will turn around.
That said, right now is a great time to be looking at the market and seeing where the deals are. There are a lot of sellers and their agents looking for some traffic in their doors. Don't wait too long. I've learned that by the time you hear it on the street, it's too late. The deals are already gone.
I have set some high goals for myself for next year which I hope you too have set. My goal is to make 2009 stand out as the best year ever! That may not be monetarily, but physically, spiritually, and personally I'm optimistic.
Have a good one! RLD
